Safety Handrail Barrier system is manufactured to the current BS Standards designed to protect working personnel carrying out vital flat roof maintenance. Health and Safety guidelines call for a safety work permit environment to be in place enforcing two man work conditions.

The handrail will protect personnel
and allow them to work close to hazardous drops and unprotected flat roof edges. The handrail system is designed to be easy to assemble using common parts, in fact it only takes an Allen key to securely lock stainless steel grub screws and the handrail in place.

Standard “straight” uprights or “cranked” uprights are an important safety feature. Both uprights set the top rail at the 1100mm recommended height but the “cranked” version stops anyone from standing on the middle rail. Their own centre of gravity ensures that they can not put themselves at risk if they attempt to stand on the middle rail. They are forced back down to safety.

All our steel safety handrail systems are hot dipped galvanised after manufacture to give your installation the best and most proven protection against corrosion. All fittings are stainless steel so the complete system will give you a long service life.

Flat roofs, access walkways and catwalks are all working areas that must be accessible so that important maintenance work can be carried out safely. The Safety Handrail Barrier system is designed to keep personnel safe. As we are digital printers using the latest generation of equipment, warning and safety information signs can be applied to the steel uprights. Please give us a call on 0121 446 4433.

Simple to assemble, both versions of uprights form a very sturdy barrier and can be assembled on site in minutes. The components are manufactured and shipped in a palletised format for safe trouble free craning to the roof level.

The system is designed with a middle and top rail, access panels, gates and standard 90-degree corners. Both the middle and top rails can also be wall mounted into metal sockets.

The bolt down Safety Handrail Barrier system has steel uprights with welded metal bases, each with two pressed holes for the assembly bolts. Holes are drilled at the location points after the handrail has been marked out and usually before the system is assembled. With the uprights, either “straight” or “cranked”, bolted securely in place both the middle and top rail can be fitted and secured in minutes.

For a detailed quotation please send us a fax, showing the layout, including, if needed, corners, ends, access gates and panels. To establish an installation cost we also need details regarding the height of the roof, parking and access for the crane and confirmation of the working hours permitted on your site or location.

The freestanding Safety Handrail Barrier system has been designed and proven for use at sites and locations where the handrail must not penetrate or damage the waterproofing surfaces. Both types of uprights “straight” and “cranked” are available as freestanding. The top rail is set at the industry standard height of 1100mm from roof level.

The safety handrail is held in place with a steel fixing plate, the upright simply bolts into the socket on the base plate. The base is designed to keep weight to a minimum and not to create a tripping hazard for any personnel working on the roof. The metal base has a rubber sheet bonded to it to protect waterproof membranes and give the freestanding barrier a long service life.

It is an important safety feature that the freestanding Safety Handrail Barrier system has enough critical mass to be stable so we recommend at least 5 or more uprights in a straight line at a standard spacing of 1500mm centres. Corners give an installation shape and can improve stability and we can design systems that combine both freestanding and bolt down barriers.
