Cable Ramps FAQ's

HR3, interlocking solid rubber ramps, solve the problem
of how to protect large cables from traffic and allow all types and weights to drive over safely. The ramps simply sit on the road surface slowing down all the traffic as they pass over them. Each section snaps into each other using “jigsaw” designed connectors, the male plug snaps securely into the female socket. There are two connectors on each side of the ramp so you can assemble a ramp to any length.

It is an important safety feature to have a critical mass using 3 or more sections of HR3 or HR5 to make a stable Hose and Cable Ramp. In some cases it is not necessary to cover the complete roadway, small sections of assembled ramps (3 or more) can be laid inline with the wheels of the oncoming traffic. It is important to use warning signs to warn and make oncoming drivers aware of the hazard.

Each section of the HR3 or HR5 Hose and Cable Ramp has two slots. The standard has 90mm slots and the larger model has 125mm slots. There is also a choice when installing the ramp sections, standard has slots facing upwards or for pedestrian traffic, slots facing down.

For temporary use in a supervised situation
Hose and Cable Ramp sections interlock together so they can be simply laid on to the road surface. For heavier traffic volumes or for permanent use, there is a bolt down fixing pack available. The fixing clamp design allows the plate to be positioned at any point along the leading edges of the ramp.

Anchor bolts work in all surfaces, asphalt, concrete or blocks. There’s no marking out, you just drill through the holes in the galvanised fixing plate, hammer the nylon plug in place and tighten the bolts. Security collars are available if you want to make the installed Hose and Cable Ramp tamper proof.

Modular Speed Ramps (MCR), paired black and yellow rubber sections have a small slot 60mm x 30mm. They must be bolted securely in place for a installation that will protect cables and slow down traffic safely.

Questions and Answers

My cable is 50mm in diameter, which cable ramp do I use?

HR3 moulded interlocking sections will take two hoses up to 75mm each.

Can I just lay the HR3 Cable Ramp on the road surface?
Yes, but it takes a critical mass of at least 3 units to be stable.

Solid rubber Cable Ramps that take all types and volumes of traffic when bolted securely in place. Our steel “clamp” fixing plates can be fitted at any point along the ramp’s leading edges. Installation is simple, there’s no marking out, you simply drill through the holes in the plate, 14mm for concrete and blocks and 13mm for asphalt and tarmac.

The CR10 Cable ramp has a 60mm wide and 30mm deep slot for cables running throughout its length. We offer a free cut to size service to ship the Cable Ramp the exact size for your site. The black ramp has bright yellow stripes to give drivers the maximum warning that they are approaching a speed ramp. It is also important to use warning and speed limit signs to control and enforce safe speeds.

Manufactured in a solid rubber compound similar to tyre stock for a long service life. We can supply Cable Ramps from ½ metre up to a maximum of 3 metres in one piece; longer ramps will simply have a butt joint. Taking the shape and following the camber of the road, the solid rubber Cable Ramp can be installed in minutes avoiding costly road closures and down time. The galvanised fixing kit packs are supplied with anchor bolts for a secure installation. Security Collars can also be used on the anchor bolts making the Cable Ramp tamperproof.

There is a wide choice in all black extruded cable ramps (CR) to protect everything from office cables to warehouse and site traffic. Solid rubber with an integral slot that can be easily split along the base to accommodate cables with moulded plugs. Designed for installations that need to be simply laid in place.

Ribbed rubber matting can also be simply laid over cables of various sizes allowing pedestrians to walk over safely. 3mm thick and 1200mm wide, the rubber matting provides a safe solution and can be supplied in lengths up to 10 metres.

Sturdy ‘A’ Frame Warning Signs (AF/Y) are printed with important safety messages for pedestrians. Bright yellow with black print, the
free-standing signs are the correct hazard warning colours. We are digital printers using the latest generation of equipment so that we
can offer specials in the ‘A’ Frame format.
