One Way Traffic Flaps (OWF2) are a positive way to help enforce a one way traffic flow system. Installed in two staggered rows for maximum deterrent value for drivers, the flaps simply bolt down on to a substantial concrete foundation. Each One Way Flap lowers independently as vehicles pass over and returns back to the upright position of 100mm in height. Not suitable for HGV traffic.

Manufactured from 16mm steel checker plate with a bright yellow finish to make the flaps highly visible to drivers for extra safety, the steel flap is powered by an industrial strength spring. This product can only be installed in areas where the traffic consists of cars and lightweight vans. The Flaps will provide unattended 24-hour protection against traffic travelling in the wrong direction!

Maximum speed: The safe limit is 5 m.p.h. so SpeedStopper® speed ramps should be used to ensure that drivers pass over the Flaps correctly.

Foundation one way flaps are set into concrete flush with the road surface. The installation should be carried out in two phases - installation of the boxes and, when the concrete has cured, the completion of the assembly by bolting the tops in position. Please note these products can be noisy and must be used within the strict speed limits of 5 m.p.h. to prevent any damage. Bright reflective warning signs will make sure that drivers get the message about driving in a one way system. The signs can be seen in all weather conditions and at night time. Signfaces are designed to have a 10 to 15 year maintenance free life.

Questions and Answers
Are the flaps noisy when traffic passes over them?
The flaps are lowered with considerable energy as a wheel passes over. Noise is generated as the flap hits the concrete foundation making these type of One Way Flaps unsuitable for some locations.

Do I have to slow down the traffic before they hit the One Way Flaps?

Yes. For both the surface and foundation types of One Way Flaps, to give a long service life, traffic must be slowed down by installing a speed ramp.

Can HGVs and other heavy traffic drive over?
Not over these types of One Way Flaps, see Dragon’s Teeth on the next page.

OWF Surface mounted Dragon’s Teeth (a metre wide) will help create a one way traffic flow. As a product, they present a very strong deterrent to drivers that want to travel in the wrong direction! Suitable for all types of traffic, the product has the profile of a 50mm high speed ramp. Traffic will drive over the Dragon’s Teeth safely and slowly in the correct direction, helping police a one way traffic system.

Virtually silent operation: The Dragon’s Teeth are powered by a high tensile heavy duty steel spring. The non-penetrative teeth are lowered by the vehicle’s wheels as they drive over them, then rise back fully to the 100mm original height.

Designed for extra safety: The profile of Dragon’s Teeth is the same as a speed ramp. Bright yellow makes the product highly visible so that drivers can clearly see the system. Reflective warning signs should be used for all installations to give drivers a clear message. It is important the one way system is clearly signed with reflective MOT traffic signs that work in all weather conditions and at night time.

Splayed ends for extra safety: We manufacture middle sections and, for extra safety, right and left handed end sections. Fast installation, they can be securely bolted to asphalt, concrete or block road surfaces. Installation is simple and there is no need for marking out. Bright yellow for maximum visual impact to tell drivers that a one way system is in force. Spikes (non-penetrative) are powered by an industrial type spring, tested for 3 million operations.

Questions and Answers
Can I bolt these down straight on to my road? Yes, the product is designed to bolt down to concrete, asphalt or blocks. We supply different anchor bolts to work with your road surface. Installation is simple, no marking out, and the Dragon’s Teeth can be fitted in minutes.

Will traffic slow down as they drive over Dragon’s Teeth? Yes, with the teeth down, the Dragon’s Teeth are 50mm high and take the shape of a speed ramp. As the vehicle drives off, the flaps return to their maximum height of 100mm high.

Can HGVs and other heavy traffic drive over? Yes. Dragon’s Teeth are manufactured in heavy duty steel checker plate.
