Q. What are loading bay buffers?
a. There are choices:Large ‘D’ section rubber extrusion running in a continuous length. Fitted horizontally along the leading front edge of the loading bay.

Small rubber blocks bolted directly at each side of the loading bay.

Vertical logs of rubber bumper. Designed to move up and down with the vehicles as they load/unload.

Q. Why are they rubber and not plastic?

a. Rubber still has qualities that most plastics aspire to. The cross-linked vulcanisation makes the rubber extrusion very tough. Rubber will absorb most low speed vehicle impacts and still recover 99.9% of its shape.

Q. How do I fit the buffer?

a. The ‘D’ section has pre-drilled access holes for bolting directly to the face of the loading bay. The small blocks also have pre-moulded fixing holes to secure on pads either side of the bay. The vertical bumpers take a completely different approach. The rubber log sits in a steel frame to allow the up and down movement and the frame is bolted to the ground.

Q. What colours are available?

a. As Henry Ford said “any colour you like as long as it’s black”. The carbon reinforcement gives rubber its strength and that’s why car and truck tyres are still always black. The steel frames of the vertical bumpers are powder coated bright yellow for extra awareness.Back to top

Q.
How long is it?
a. The ‘D’ extruded section is manufactured in 3 metre lengths and can be easily cut to size, either on site or at our factory.

Q.
Can it go round corners?
a. Yes. The extruded ‘D’ section can be simply mitred for internal corners and there are solid rubber mouldings for external corners.

Q. How long do they last?

a. A difficult question because it depends the volume of traffic and wear and tear. The vertical bumpers have an incredibly long life because they move with the changing weight of the trailer and with hydraulic shunters.
